A computer and convenient access to the internet are the tools you need to access the degree programme. You will need a basic understanding of computer technology - if you can use a word processing package and have some familiarity with the internet you should have enough technical skills to get started. Exploring the use of technology is covered in an early module and this will give you a chance to extend and develop your IT skills.

Like any university degree you will be working on different modules. These are arranged in three levels and typically you will complete one level each year before moving on to the next.
This module aims to enable you to understand how to use the online learning community environment. You will learn how to confidently participate in online conversations with your learning facilitator and peer group. You will gain a basic understanding of how people interact in an online community to support each other's learning.
The learning activities in this module include: Building your own personal learning space; Evaluating a variety of online tools; Discussing how learning theories relate to online learning.
This module will introduce you to workplace learning. You will deepen your understanding of your role in the workplace looking at it from a range of perspectives. This activity will act as a foundation for the research work you will undertake during the degree.
You will carry out learning activities and build up your assessment portfolio, which typically includes: A presentation which illustrates a typical day in your working life; A self audit of your skills and learning needs; A mapping of your workplace structures and decision making processes; A Personal Development Plan that identifies the key issues that you will focus upon in your first year.
This module introduces the concept of Reflective Practice. You will explore your role in your work place by reflecting on specific critical incidents that provide an opportunity for learning - what, when, and why you do things and how you this affects you and those around you. You will apply some models of reflection to help you systematically learn from your experiences.
Action Inquiry is a strategy to help you develop your practice through change cycles of plan - do - review. This module will help you understand what Action Inquiry involves, why it is valuable and where and when it is best used. It will equip you to carry out the research essential to meeting the requirements of this undergraduate degree. ou will apply this strategy by carrying out a short work based project.
If you choose to stop after the first level you can request a Certificate of Higher Education qualification.
Many students relish the opportunity to broaden or deepen their understanding of a given relevant topic through undertaking a programme of negotiated learning. This module is intended to provide a means by which students may have such an opportunity in a manner that is supported and rigorous.
This module aims to enable you to develop an understanding of learning in the context of the organisation as a learning body moving forward in an ever-changing world. You will consider the way your Personal Development Plan and personal learning integrates/links with the learning of your workplace organisation.
This module brings together developing research skills and an increasing understanding of theory in an action inquiry. It offers the opportunity to select and negotiate an appropriate task. In choosing a topic you may wish to further develop existing research from the previous modules or begin new cycles.
This module will develop your ability to identify critical incidents in your workplace and use models of reflection to begin to make sense of what you observe. Using the contexts of workplace technology and learning, you will focus on the concept of 'Double Loop' learning.
If you choose to stop after the second level you can request a Diploma of Higher Education.
During this module you will plan out the work for the four modules of their level 3, year 3 work. This will involve reviewing changes in the work role and what has been learned from the degree course to date.
During this module you will consider the implications of the research methodology you will be using including the ethical considerations. You will be involved in research leading to a small-scale pilot exhibition in preparation for the main exhibition. You will be considering audience, media and communication strategies in order to have the maximum impact on the identified audience.
During this module you will carry out their research plans and hold a full-scale exhibition of the findings. You will also gather evidence of the impact of the research. This module will provide the opportunity to present key research findings and begin to assess the impact of this on the workplace and colleagues.
The defence will be to a peer and academic audience and will be made after the exhibition process and will focus on the reaction it generated. The defence is in the form of an exploration of the approach used and some of the key ideas that have been developed. In addition, key questions posed by the examiners will be answered. The defence should be disseminated using appropriate media.
Successful completion of the third level means you will graduate with a full quality British Honours degree.
